Cannot checkout branches in scratch area

For example, in here:

    scratch:
      root: /workspace_git/
      repositories:
        - name: ophyd-async
          remote_url: https://github.com/bluesky/ophyd-async.git
        - name: dodal
          remote_url: https://github.com/DiamondLightSource/dodal.git
        - name: test-rig-bluesky
          remote_url: https://github.com/DiamondLightSource/test-rig-bluesky.git

We would like to be able to clone specific branches of there repos.

Acceptance Criteria
