Weirdness with ctrl-z (undo)

Working on an old Dell Inspiron laptop with a fresh install of debian 12 and wordgrinder 0.8.

When editing a document, and I type ctrl-z to do undo something, all I see is a message at the bottom of the screen:

UNKNOWN_407 (KEY_SUSPEND) is not bound --- try ESCAPE for a menu

However, if I look in the menu, "undo" says it is bound to "^Z" as expected, so I'm not sure what's up. Maybe an ncurses issue?

Environment shows the following:

That's an ncurses thing --- for some reason it's reporting ^Z as SUSPEND? I have no idea why. You're using the Linux console, right? You might have better luck with something like fbterm.

Alternatively, you can just rebind the Undo command to KEY_SUSPEND (instructions are at the bottom of the screen when a menu is open).
